Tasty Steak Wraps

Tasty Steak Wraps

Summer is upon us and that gives us even more reason to fire up those braai’s. With some amazing meat and fresh ingredients available in South Africa, we can make some truly delicious dishes over the fire and are not limited to the standard meat, potatoes and salad. Why not try something different this summer? We have a tasty steak wrap that is perfect for outdoor meals!

What You Will Need:

  • Anat Wraps (4-6)
  • 1-2 rump steaks of your choice
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • 1 Tbs chopped fresh thyme
  • Mixed lettuce
  • Hummus
  • Cheese of your choice (grated)
  • Avocado (sliced)

How to Make the Wraps:

Step 1: Prepare your filling ingredients by shredding the lettuce, grating your cheese and slicing the avocado. You can place these in dishes for people to assemble their own wraps.

Step 2: Fire up that braai and cook your steaks to your liking. Medium-rare is best for these wraps.

Step 3: Mix the lemon juice, olive oil and thyme to make a dressing and marinade the steak in this once it has come off the braai and been cut into slices. The longer you let it sit in this dressing the more delicious it becomes.

Step 4: While the steaks are marinating you can warm your Anat wraps by dry frying them in a pan over medium heat.

Step 5: Once you are happy with your steak strips and your Anat wraps are nice and warm, you can start assembling your wraps. Hummus makes a great base and can be spread over the wrap before the other ingredients are added.

Step 6: Fold and enjoy!

This simple recipe is quick and easy to prepare and delicious to eat. It is perfect for outdoor meals where finger food is required and a great way to make use of the braai.
